Calculate Your Vitality Index Score — In Less Than 5 Minutes
A simple exercise to see where you are today — and how to take your next step forward.
Foundation, Growth, Balance, Strength, or Peak — which phase are you in?
Find out by calculating your Vitality Index Score in less than five minutes.
Why Calculate Your Score?
In my last post, I introduced the Vitality Equation — a way to understand how money, purpose, connection, health, and stress combine to shape your overall well-being.
Today, you’ll use that equation to calculate your first Vitality Index Score.
Think of it like stepping on the scale or tracking your steps with a fitness watch. It’s not about perfection — it’s about getting a clear picture of where you stand, so you can decide what to focus on next.
Step 1: Rate Yourself
Score each variable on a scale from 1–5:
Money → Financial security and freedom from constant worry.
Purpose → Feeling like your life and work actually matter.
Connection → Meaningful relationships with people who support you.
Health → Your physical energy, fitness, and ability to stay active.
Stress → The load of daily challenges (lower = better).
Universal Scale:
1 = Very Low • 2 = Low • 3 = Moderate • 4 = High • 5 = Very High
Step 2: Use the Equation
Vitality Index Score = (Money × Purpose × Connection × Health ÷ Stress) × 0.16
Example:
Money = 3
Purpose = 4
Connection = 3
Health = 4
Stress = 2
(3 × 4 × 3 × 4 ÷ 2) × 0.16 = 12 / 100
Step 3: See Where You Land
Here’s how to interpret your score:
0–20: Foundation — Laying the groundwork; start with one variable.
21–40: Growth — Early steps are forming; focus on consistency.
41–60: Balance — Stability is emerging; refine routines and even out weak spots.
61–80: Strength — Strong vitality across areas; sustain and protect habits.
81–100: Peak — Thriving with vitality; sustain and grow.
These are phases, not grades. Wherever you start, it’s just the beginning of your progress.
Step 4: Take One Action Today
Your score shows you where you are. The next step is choosing one small action that can lift it. For example:
Money → Transfer $10 into savings.
Purpose → Write down one goal for the week.
Connection → Send a quick message to a friend.
Health → Take a 10-minute walk.
Stress → Turn off notifications for 1 hour.
Small wins compound. Your score rises as your habits do.
